Hi, I'm Lexi!
I'm a mom to two amazing little girls, Everest and Aurora, and the owner behind Evvie Bean's Baby Boutique.
Outside of the boutique, you'll usually find my family somewhere outdoors. We love paddleboarding, hiking, swimming, and making memories together. I've always been a bit of a science nerd too. When I was little, I wanted to be a paleontologist. Later I wanted to become an orthodontist, then a genetic counselor. Before Evvie Bean's, I was working toward my master's degree in microbiology studying HIV.
Safe to say life had a different plan for me.
When I was pregnant with Everest, I noticed something that kept bothering me.
It Started With One Little Bean
If you wanted beautiful, high-quality baby clothes, you had to shop at expensive boutiques. If you wanted something affordable, your choices were mostly big box stores. There didn't seem to be much in between.
At the time, my husband Asa and I were two broke college students trying to make life work. He was in paramedic school while working nights, and I was in graduate school teaching labs at Boise State while working full time in my own lab.
We wanted cute, well-made baby clothes just like everyone else. We just couldn't afford boutique prices.
So I started small.
At first I sold brands that weren't as well known and priced them a little below retail. Eventually I started designing my own pieces. The more I learned, the more confident I became, and little by little Evvie Bean's grew into something bigger than I ever imagined.
Everest has always been my inspiration.
Where the Name Came From
When I was pregnant with her, everyone called her "Little Bean." After she was born, that naturally turned into "Evvie Bean."
The funny part is that the whole "Bean" tradition actually started with my little sister, Mckenna, who our family called "Kenner Bean." I always knew someday I'd have my own little Bean.
Naming the boutique after Everest just felt right.
She was the reason I started all of this. I wanted to build something for my family, something that would let me spend more time with my girls than a traditional career in the lab ever could.
Today she proudly tells people, "I have lots of names. One of them is Evvie Bean like my store!" Then she reminds everyone that her real name is Bean.
I hope one day both of my girls look back and feel proud of what their dad and I built together while we were just two young parents trying to create something from scratch.
Those early years weren't glamorous.
Built With Care From the Very Beginning
I spent countless weekends loading up inventory, setting up vendor booths, packing everything back up, and doing it all again the next weekend.
In both 2023 and 2024, I did nearly 40 markets every year while raising babies, juggling childcare, finishing school, and trying to grow a business. I even kept doing shows until two weeks before Aurora was born, then started right back up again that January.
It was exhausting.
Finding balance is still probably the hardest part. I want to spend every day with my family. I want to be in the boutique every day. I miss doing all the markets. There are always more ideas than hours in the day.
Sometimes I joke that I just need to clone myself.
Why Quality Matters to Me
Soft, Safe Fabrics
Both my girls and I have eczema, so fabric quality is something I take seriously. I look for bamboo, cotton, and organic fabrics whenever possible because comfort should never be a luxury.
Designed With Intention
Many of the pieces you'll find at Evvie Bean's are designed right here in Idaho. Every collection starts with an idea, then goes through months of samples, revisions, and fine-tuning before it's ready. A full collection usually takes around six months to complete because I won't settle until it feels just right.
Made for Real Families
Every collection reflects what I would choose for my own girls. From the fabrics to the little details, every piece is created with comfort, durability, and childhood in mind. If I wouldn't put it on my own kids, you won't find it in my boutique.
A Store We Never Planned For
One of my favorite stories is actually how we ended up in Meridian.
I was doing a vendor show at The Village when someone from the leasing team stopped by my booth. He loved what we were doing and asked if I'd be interested in setting up a pop-up.
About thirty minutes later, he came back.
A space had unexpectedly opened up, and he asked if we wanted it.
We had two days to decide.
It was a huge leap, but we said yes.
When we opened our doors for our grand opening, I looked outside and saw a line stretching all the way to the next store across the street.
I cried.
I'll never forget that moment.
More Than a Boutique
Our community has completely changed our lives.
Every market, every conversation, every family that chose to shop small helped turn a little booth and a dream into a real storefront.
That's something I'll never take for granted.
One of my favorite parts of owning a physical store is getting to know the families who shop with us. I love hearing what they like, what they wish existed, and getting feedback on new designs before they're released.
Those conversations help shape what comes next.
For the Mamas
Motherhood is the hardest thing I've ever done.
It's also the best thing I've ever done.
If there's one thing I hope every mom knows, it's this:
It's okay to feel overwhelmed.
It's okay to cry.
I've never met a mom who honestly said motherhood was easy. Every journey looks different, but none of us have to do it alone.
I wish there were more places where moms could gather, connect, and simply be together. That's the kind of community I hope Evvie Bean's continues to grow, both inside our boutique and beyond it.
